The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light showers and drizzle in Karachi over the next three days, while confirming that the sea breeze will remain active, providing relief from humidity
According to the PMD’s Early Warning Centre, the city is expected to see partly cloudy skies and humid weather, with daytime temperatures ranging between 31°C and 33°C. Light rain or drizzle may occur in several areas during this period.
The department noted that while Karachi will benefit from the continued sea breeze, other parts of Sindh are likely to remain hot and muggy, though the eastern coastal belt could experience brief spells of light rain
The forecast comes after weeks of destructive monsoon rains. In August, more than 16 people, including women and children, died in rain-related incidents across Karachi, following heavy downpours that led to wall collapses, electrocutions, and drowning cases in different localities.
Just last week, another spell of torrential rain claimed at least five lives, leaving neighbourhoods flooded, vehicles swept away, and residents stranded. Over 400 people were rescued as the army and civil authorities launched joint relief efforts in inundated areas.
The rains also caused Thado Dam in Gadap Town to overflow, flooding parts of the M-9 Motorway and severely disrupting traffic. Streets and homes in Gadap Town and nearby localities, including Scheme 33, were submerged, forcing residents to spend the night in fear as floodwaters entered their homes.
